There is a lot of controversy about whether or not online teaching can be effective. I did a lot of research last semester, and I've decided that indeed it can. However, the instructor and the student really need to put the effort into it. Some instructors think that you just throw some random stuff up on blackboard, then grade stuff at the end of the semester and that's it! No other effort involved. Some students think the same thing. Both parties are wrong. I think the problem with students, is that many don't know how to learn on their own. A ton of what I do in the classroom when I teach 1st and 2nd year students, is teaching them how to learn and study. If they just go to an online program, I can see how they would struggle.
The projects for this week were a bit frustrating for me. I got way too bogged down with the quiz in weebly and couldn't get past it. I spent hours trying to figure out how to do it. I did try to do a survey, but couldn't figure out how to make it a quiz. I also had a weird problem where when I tried to add stuff to my assignment page, other stuff would disappear. I thought maybe I could only put so much stuff up so I settled for links instead of the whole project. Once I got past the quiz, I was fine with the other projects. I may end up using rubistar, because I find rubrics a pain to create.
