I can't really see myself using this kind of website for my classes because we are required to use our school's management system. It basically does all of this for us. We put all the same information in, but the website has pages that the stuff can go. We can customize it to fit our class though. It's nice because the students can go on one site and access all of the class websites. Some instructors utilize it more than others. Some make really robust websites, others just put their gradebook in. I can see, however, using this site for a website for our personal farm. Learning these skills has been quite valuable to me personally.
Question 3- The tools and resources on the web must be applied to help students become productive digital citizens of their 21st century global digital society. What do you see as your role in preparing your students for their place in their world? What specifically will you do in your classroom to ensure that preparation?
I see myself as a facilitator for the students to expose them to what is out there in terms of technology and help them use it. To do this, I will make assignments utilizing a variety of technology and give them explicit instructions on how to do those assignments. By allowing the students to become proficient at the technology, it will help prepare them for the workforce because so much of industry is now computerized.
